Sensfix was founded in June 2018 in Palo Alto when Balaji Renukumar was invited by Chris Yeh and Startupbootcamp as one of 11 startups from around the world selected for their blitzscaling potential. The original vision was bold: enabling machines and devices to self-schedule, self-dispatch, and self-ticket service. Imagine an LED lamp opening a maintenance ticket by itself before it even starts flickering.

Then COVID hit, and it nearly ended everything. The Oil & Gas and Commercial Buildings verticals where Sensfix was focused were devastated by lockdowns. Revenue went to zero. Most startups in those sectors didn't survive.

But instead of shutting down, Sensfix pivoted. The company pioneered the world's first multimodal AI rule engine — a system that automates decision-making based on rapid text, image, audio, and video inputs. This wasn't a pivot born of desperation. It was built on deep technical conviction. In 2022, Sensfix was awarded a $2.5M international R&D grant after rigorous due diligence by an international jury of VCs, corporates, and researchers.

To put that timing in context: OpenAI was just releasing InstructGPT models at the time. ChatGPT wasn't released until November 2022. Perplexity had just been founded in August 2022. Sensfix took a different route — slower perhaps, but was there when it all started and has been in it ever since.
